my name is hillary, a human rights advicate and a proud nigerian of 36 years of age. now let me tell you a bit about myself and then i’ll tell you what this site is all about… i was born in raised in ibadan, but my family migrated to the united states when i was 15. at first, adjusting to the new environment was tough as there was discrimination and injustice. i guess most immigrants have to go through this at some point, especially when you come from a developing country like nigeria. and though my family has experienced many forms of bias, this did not discourage us from persevering without losing our cultural identity from the pressure of westernization. and so i studied hard and eventually was able to land a job at a web development firm concentrating on android and ios mobile app monetization strategy , which, in turn helped me to become proficient with the use of the computer and the internet. in a sense, i was able to make it in the land of great opportunities, but somehow there is a ‘drive’ for me to voice out all my concerns about human rights, gender equality, and environmental awareness especially when these issues are still prevalent in my native country. regardless of gender and religion, and awareness to prevailing environmental issues in nigeria as well as featuring palpable solutions to resolve these problems. the main objective of this site is based on these 2 main principles: rejection of any forms of discrimination in terms of ethnic, region, religion, or ideology. empowering vulnerable and disadvantage members of the society through dissemination of proper information. the main purpose of this online journal is to promote awakening to the people and make them aware of the major issues that is damaging the core of the society. being faithful to my will of awakening the nigerian people, i hope to bring awareness through this online site so that social struggles will be abolished – in particular the issue of human right violations in the form attempts, arrests, intimidation, kidnappings, and etc. one good example of my cause is this video from amnesty international :   apart from this, i also intend on highlighting the ever present environmental problems in the anticipation of bringing a workable solution to improve the ecological structure to the country. this is helpful in the sense that nigeria is plagued with issues of urbanization, deforestation, desertification, pollution, and overpopulation nowadays. in a way, i also want to align my efforts to the united nation ’s human rights programs in nigeria where the organization concentrates on putting an end to intern-communal violence that is plaguing nomadic and farming groups, the transformation of society’s pre-conceived notions of the lgbt community from being labeled as a “gang of unlawful members of the society”, the abolishment of corruption in the public sector, and most especially the alarming cases of boko haram abuses after partnerships among civil and societal organizations in the country and work hand in hand with ngo’s, foundations, and unions in the country to realize my dream (and perhaps their dream) of having a
